RIP Earth

Trump’s actions so far with regards the environment and climate change are disturbing, much as feared.  He has signed some sort of executive action to continue construction of some massive oil pipelines – which Obama had halted – regardless of their environmental impact (not to say their intrusion on some Indian land).  And he has also signed some sort of order to slash environmental regulations when building these or any future pipelines.  It is no coincidence that him and his cronies have (or had) shares in the energy companies involved in this construction.  Don’t forget, Trump has previously claimed that climate change is a hoax initiated by the Chinese.  I think when he pulls the US out of the Paris Climate Accord – something more or less inevitable with the kind of people he has surrounded himself with - expect a major upturn in protest and resistance.  He may try to suppress the media in his ongoing war with them – classic dictator behavior – but this is not Russia/Turkey where you can get away with that, and these backward steps on environmental progress will have lasting ramifications on his presidency and legacy.
