Current Affairs

Well, this is a tough one.  I thought about writing something on the Orlando shootings, a call for gun control, the inevitability of nothing happening.  But this is like a broken record every time there is a mass shooting.  At the very least there is no justifiable reason to not ban automatic weapons.  Then I thought about writing about football hooliganism, the shame of being an English fan abroad, how scary the World Cup in Russia is going to be in just 2 years times, why I think Russia should be permanently kicked out of all international sports (it’s not just about their hooligans, but also their state-sanctioned doping – see Maria Sharapova and their athletics program – and their war crimes in Crimea and Syria).  But all of this is very sad, so instead here is a little statistical humor:

How many statisticians does it take to change a light bulb?

One (plus or minus three)
