MLK Day

I get it, America should honor Martin Luther King Jr for everything he did for civil rights.  But to have a bank holiday barely 2 weeks into the new year seems somehow fundamentally wrong and wasteful.  Yes, his birthday might have been 15 January.  But since he was assassinated on 4 April, why don't we move MLK Day to April?  That would seem a much more reasonable time of the year to have a federal holiday, especially since America doesn't have one for Easter.  In addition, I read somewhere that the 3rd Monday in January - which is MLK Day - is also called Blue Monday and is supposedly the most depressing day of the year.  Yep, that sounds about right.
