Atmospheric Rivers

It's our turn to get hit by one of the atmospheric rivers currently pounding the west coast.  And the heavy rainfall has led to various severe weather alerts - an increased threat of landslides, a coastal flood advisory, etc.  But it's only going to last for a couple of days - so we've got off extremely lightly compared to say California.  The amount of rain they've been getting, and are continuing to get, is incredible.  Yet, somehow, you just know that later in the year most of California is going to be under drought conditions once again.  It's tough to feel much sympathy for the very rich people living on the Californian coast who are affected so much by all of this.  But you know it's bad when even San Diego is getting drenched.  Though I bet there have been some amazing waves for surfing.
