Documentaries

Over the last 3 consecutive days, I've watched the following 3 documentaries:
- Welcome to Chechnya (about LGBTQ persecution)
- In the Same Breath (about Wuhan and the pandemic)
- The Price of Freedom (about the NRA and gun control)
And I come away from these documentaries feeling conflicted - both thoroughly depressed and f*cking angry.  Particularly with the last one, because gun ownership and gun control is something I feel strongly about - and it's utterly despicable that the US is unable to pass meaningful gun reform.  And it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that there is such a strong correlation between being an NRA member and being a Trump supporter.  But what these documentaries have in common is that they all shine a light on some of the worse aspects of humanity - the misuse of power and the prevalence of misinformation.  It really makes you despair.  And although watching these kind of documentaries is important to understand the kind of world we live in, I also think it's important to balance it out with some positivity - like through the enjoyment of a good, albeit fictional, book or film.
