Flag Etiquette

I haven’t been following the Winter Olympics other than occasionally scanning a few headlines online, and certainly haven't watched any of the awful American TV coverage.  But something caught my attention that I think epitomizes Trump’s America.  So, a snowboarding US Olympian had won gold in dramatic style and was obviously emotional and celebratory.  He was handed a US flag, but in the course of celebrating he let the flag drag across the ground, and apparently also accidentally stepped on it at one point.  Oh boy, all of a sudden people were outraged at him and calling him unpatriotic, unAmerican and a disgrace.  Yes, maybe he was a bit careless in his “flag etiquette” – but to suddenly turn on a gold-winning athlete for something so trivial is just ridiculous.
