Banking

With my UK bank account, it's very simple to set up a money transfer to someone else.  With my US bank account, why is this so difficult?  I couldn't find anything to set this up when I logged into my account online.  Ridiculous.  So how am I supposed to pay my rent?  A trip to an actual branch is in order tomorrow.  The American banking system is so backward - we still don't have chip and pin here, they've only got as far as chip and signature.  Prehistoric.
