Travel

Well, it looks like any hopes I might have to travel to the UK over summer are down the drain.  The project that I was supposed to be working on during the rest of the year has now officially been canned, so it looks like I'm going to have a lot of free time coming up - which is why a trip to the UK seemed like a very real possibility.  However, today the State Department here warned against Americans travelling to the UK.  Officially, the travel advisory level for the UK is now "Level 4: Do not travel".  This was after the UK's risk assessment level was also raised to "Level 4: Covid-19 Very High" by the CDC.  Yikes.  Seems like an inopportune time for the UK to lift most of it pandemic-related restrictions!  It's not like the US is doing particularly well with it's vaccination rate right now - thanks in no part to a certain former president.  Indeed, Canada has overtaken the US - which is why Canada is soon going to open it's border to fully vaccinated Americans.  Which is good news, as I might be looking for something else to do or somewhere else to go over summer.
