A visit today to the "world's oldest and original model village" - Bekonscot Model Village and Railway. Opened in the 1920's, this is a surreal leftover from some bygone era that feels totally out of place in the modern world. Basically a series of miniature dioramas interwoven with a massive model railway system, it is kind of charming despite its kitschiness. But young kids - the predominate target audience for this kind of place - seemed to love it, more often that not accompanied by their grandparents who probably were also brought here back in their childhood.
