Had a minor heart attack this morning. I was in the office, actually doing some work while listening to a podcast through my earbuds. When all of a sudden my phone started blaring a test alert. It was incredibly loud, and extremely unexpected because my phone's silent mode was on. It was so loud, that I couldn't tell whether it was just me or whether everyone else's phone was going off. Well, apparently, it was everybody. This was the US government's big emergency alert drill - sending an emergency alert to all radios, TVs and cell phones. Hopefully I won't ever hear it again, otherwise we'll know we've reached the end times.
