First with the Club World Cup, and then this past weekend with the US Open - we've got a clear indication that Trump is going to be shoved down our throats during every major international sporting event in the US. The very definition of cringe. What do we have next? We can expect an appearance at the Ryder Cup, definitely one at the World Cup (it somehow seems on brand that Trump has cozied up to the evil and corrupt cabal that is FIFA) and we've also got the Olympics in 2028. If any of these are anything like the US Open, it's going to be an absolute shambles and I pity any fans trying to watch the same event as he is. You know something is very wrong when the actual sporting event was delayed solely due to his presence, and you even feel some sympathy for people who shelled out thousands of dollars to watch a tennis match that they were then unable to get in on time. And obviously Trump being booed at the US Open got censored from US TV - a classic authoritarian move. I would hope and expect any "soccer" fans to boo him even more mercilessly than a tennis crowd.
