A less than ideal train ride from London to Manchester:
1. The planned service, which I had a reserved seat on, was cancelled
2. No problem, I'll take the next service. Mistake. It was a stampede towards this train, and then when I boarded a couple of coaches all the seats were reserved. I could probably have just taken my chances with one of those seats, but it was just so busy and hectic that I didn't want to deal with this particular train.
3. Instead, went to the ticket office and asked if they could reserve a seat for me on the next service, which they went and did. Unfortunately, when boarding this train I discovered that my requested "window" seat did not in fact have a window. Which was rather annoying.
I want to be angry at the operator, but I can't if the storm that came through really did damage some overhead lines (though I can probably claim some sort of refund). However, I can emphatically say that having to spend any time at London Euston absolutely sucks - it really is one of the worst London terminals.
