The American Revolution

Trump's administration may be trying to kill public broadcasting, but that hasn't stopped PBS from broadcasting another epic Ken Burns documentary.  This one is on the American Revolution, and today is the 4th of 6 consecutive days it is airing.  I'm recording the series, but haven't started watching it yet.  I need to be in the right frame of mind to tackle a Ken Burns documentary - they're normally long (American Revolution is about 12 hours total) so has to be tackled in bite size pieces, it tends to be heavy on imagery (the "Ken Burns effect") so you have to focus on the telly and not be distracted by your phone, and it tends to be heavy on whimsical and meandering narration so you have to be prepared and ready for that.  I think if I tried to watch it now, I would probably fall asleep in front of the telly.  But if you are able to get through one of his historical documentaries, it is normally worth it.  For example, I thought his one on the Vietnam War was outstanding.  And the one probably closest to this one - the American Civil War - is also highly regarded.  I imagine I will try to watch it over Thanksgiving or Christmas - and whenever the American Revolution is discussed, be prepared for lots of Brit-bashing.
