In a desperate attempt to try to find some half decent bread in America, I've been trying different varieties. Most recently, it has been potato bread. I didn't really know what to expect - it's certainly nothing I've ever had, or even heard of, in the UK. It looks like a normal loaf of white bread, but apparently is made with potato flour or mashed potatoes. Weird - sounds like something you'd have during rationing. But it isn't bad. Seems comparable to decent white bread, at least I didn't discern any big difference in taste or texture, and it toasts particularly well. I don't know whether it is any better for you - probably a step up from normal white bread, but still lacking compared to whole grain - and as with most American breads, inexplicably contains lots of added sugar. Nope, American bread still sucks.
