I've just started watching the second season of House of the Dragon. There's no sugar-coating this, but it is a drag. The show is just relentlessly dour. I'm not invested in the characters, and when you don't care about the characters then you don't care what happens to them. It's incredibly disappointing - the show seriously lacks heart and seriously lacks humo(u)r. It doesn't compare to Game of Thrones at it's best. And even when Game of Thrones was at it's worse, particularly towards the end, at least you were still invested in the characters. There is another Game of Thrones spin-off due to air later this year. I'm not exactly enthusiastic about it.
