In the current environment, it's tough to keep this blog even remotely positive. And it doesn't get any better with the news that Amazon have acquired creative control of the James Bond franchise. This has the potential to be an absolutely disaster. We've seen how the Star Wars and Marvel universes have seriously diminished their standing by the over-saturation of films, TV shows and spin-offs, and I fear the same will happen with Bond. The fact that it's Amazon does not exactly inspire confidence - I still haven't got round to watching any of their not exactly well-reviewed Lord of the Rings series. Perhaps the biggest thing to fear is the "Americanization" of a British icon. Maybe we should just treat the Amazon version of Bond like we do the unofficial Bond films (e.g. Never Say Never Again) - the less said the better.
